We already publish live prices for every Icelandic camper rental company and a day-by-day guide to every major route. This is where everything else goes: the explainers that answer a single question properly, with the vendor-by-vendor detail we have collected while building the comparison engine.
Every guide is written against the companies' own published terms and cross-checked against what renters report afterwards. Where a company does not publish something, we say so rather than guessing — an unconfirmed cell in a comparison table is more useful than a confident wrong number.

Campervan Insurance in Iceland: What's Covered, What Isn't, and What Each Company Charges
Every Icelandic camper rental includes collision cover — and still leaves you holding a deductible of €800–3,500. A plain-English breakdown of CDW, gravel, sand and ash cover, plus a side-by-side table of what all 14 companies we compare actually charge to buy that risk down.

Toilets & showers
Almost every camper rented in Iceland is deliberately bathroom-free, and the companies say so in writing. This is the list of the ones that aren't — model by model, with toilet type, whether the shower is a cubicle or a tap on the wall, standing height, and the two catches nobody mentions: the water system that is switched off all winter, and the fact that a full tank weighs more than your luggage.
Best month for your goals
'Is this month right for us?' packs three questions into one word: what the month usually does, when the things you want actually run, and what the weather does on the day. The goals' real windows — northern lights, puffins, long hikes, low prices, easier driving — and why some pairs have no month at all, plus straight answers on winter hiking, the Highlands in late September, and December expectations, with the later checks each plan needs.
What to book ahead
'Book ahead' and 'go with the flow' are both right — for different bookings. A decision guide built on four questions (how much it matters to you, how early it goes, when your money locks in, what you would do instead) and on the one both slogans skip: would you rather miss out or lose money? Worked through the lagoon slot, the hotel nights, the ice cave nobody can show you in advance, and the camper itself, with each provider's real cancellation deadline.
