Privacy Notice

CamperSearch.is is an independent, non-commercial comparison service for camper van rentals in Iceland. We aggregate publicly available pricing information from rental vendors and present it side by side so travellers can make informed decisions.

We are not a travel agency, booking platform, or reseller. We do not process bookings, handle payments, or act as an intermediary in any transaction. We charge no fees and apply no markup to the prices displayed. Some links to vendor websites may be affiliate links — if you book through one, we may receive a small commission from the vendor at no extra cost to you. This never affects how results are ranked or displayed.

When you enter travel dates and a pickup location, CamperSearch.is sends those parameters to each vendor's public website in real time to retrieve current pricing and availability. This is functionally identical to you visiting each vendor's site individually and running the same search.

Your search parameters (dates, location) are used solely to perform the query and are not logged, stored, or associated with any identifier. Once the results are returned to your browser, the search data exists only in your browser's memory for the duration of your visit.

We measure how the site is used with Umami, an open-source, privacy-focused analytics tool. We run our own instance of it on our own hosting infrastructure, so the data never reaches Google, Meta, or any advertising or data-broker network. It is not shared with or sold to anyone.

Umami sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records only anonymous, aggregated information about each page view:

• The page you viewed and its title
• The referring site or search engine that sent you here, if any
• Your approximate country, derived from your IP address — the IP itself is discarded and never stored
• Browser, operating system, device type, screen size, and language, derived from the standard headers your browser sends to every website

That is the complete list. There is no persistent visitor ID, no cross-site tracking, and no way for us — or anyone reading the statistics — to work out who you are or to connect two visits to the same person. To count a session without storing an identifier, Umami derives a temporary hash from your IP address and browser details using a secret value that is rotated regularly; the hash cannot be reversed and stops matching once the value rotates.

We use these numbers for one purpose: to see which pages and comparisons travellers actually find useful, so we know what to improve. If you would still rather not be counted, any standard ad or tracker blocker will stop the script from loading, and the site will work exactly as it does otherwise.

CamperSearch.is contains links to vendor websites where you can view full details and complete bookings. When you click any of these links, you leave CamperSearch.is entirely. From that point, the vendor's own privacy policy and terms of service govern your interaction.

Following one of these links tells the vendor that you arrived from CamperSearch.is — your browser passes on our site name, and the link itself carries a short campaign tag naming us as the source. That is the whole of it: no identifier, no profile, and none of your search details. Your dates, pickup point, and the page you were reading are not included, and we do not pass the vendor anything about you separately.

We have no control over and accept no responsibility for the privacy practices, content, or data handling of any third-party website. We encourage you to read each vendor's privacy policy before providing them with any personal information or completing a booking.

Camper van images displayed in search results are loaded directly from vendor websites and their content-delivery networks (CDNs). When your browser requests these images, the vendor's CDN may receive your IP address and standard HTTP headers (such as your browser's user-agent string). This is a standard aspect of how the web works and is not something we control.

We use Google Fonts (Geist and Geist Mono) which are loaded from Google's servers. Google's privacy policy applies to that request. We also load the analytics script described above from our own Umami instance. Some road-trip pages embed activity booking widgets from GetYourGuide, which load from GetYourGuide's servers and are governed by their privacy policy. No other external resources are loaded.

Our hosting infrastructure may automatically generate standard server access logs that include IP addresses, request timestamps, URLs requested, HTTP status codes, and user-agent strings. These logs are a standard feature of web hosting and are used solely for maintaining security and diagnosing technical issues.

We do not analyse these logs to identify individual users, build profiles, or extract behavioural patterns. They are retained only as long as our hosting provider's default retention period and are not shared with any third party.
