What Renters Actually Say

Star ratings only tell you so much. We read the reviews behind them — Google, Trustpilot, and Reddit, company by company — and pulled out the patterns for all 14 Iceland rental companies we compare.

How we read reviews

Each platform attracts a different kind of renter, so we treat them as three separate signals rather than one blended score.

For every company, we read through its reviews on each platform and summarise the recurring themes — the praise that comes up again and again, and the complaint clusters — rather than quoting the single best or worst review. A pattern that appears across dozens of independent reviews tells you something one angry post never can.

Scores are always shown with their review counts, because a 4.8 from forty reviews and a 4.7 from two thousand are very different kinds of evidence. Where a score comes from a company's own site rather than a platform we could verify directly, the guide says so.

Ratings drift as new reviews land, so these guides are re-checked periodically. Treat them as a map of what tends to go right and wrong with each company — and skim the newest reviews yourself before a booking you care about.

The three deep-dives
